What will your website look like?
We are able to offer this service by keeping things simple and working to an established format - a "one size fits all" approach. This enables us to design the site quickly and then alter it easily as your needs and activities change from month to month.
Your website will look something like this one - your logo or a picture in the top left corner, your title at the head of each page, a column of "raised" buttons down the left-hand side to take visitors to your other pages and so on.
You can include ....
• your choice of background and text colours
• any amount of text. If you're not confident about your own writing, you can ask us to check and correct the spelling and grammar for you
• up to a dozen-or-so pages with clickable buttons to get to them
• your own logo on each page. You can send this to us as a computer file in any common picture format (.jpeg, .gif, .bmp and so on). If you send it to us on a piece of paper we can convert this ourselves but there may sometimes be a slight loss of definition.
• your title on each page (or not, if you prefer)
• pictures if you supply these as computer files in any common picture format (.jpeg, .gif, .bmp and so on). Be warned - too many pictures, and too large, can seriously increase the time it takes for the pages to load into a visitor's computer, and many people are impatient and won't wait, so don't go overboard!
• sound files so that visitors can listen to little snippets of your choir or orchestra. You can send these as .wav or .mp3 files, or on a CD
• links to other sites you think your visitors would find interesting
• a "contact" button so that visitors can email you direct
And remember, the flat fee you pay each year not only includes all this, but also the cost of registering the domain name and hosting the site, and all regular maintenance, additions and alterations as ordered by you. We will NOT, however, include .....
• moving pictures of any sort
• Sibelius or Coda Finale or similar music files
• any ActiveX or Javascript or other complex web design tools
• shopping-carts or credit-card payment systems
• advertising, banners or popups. We will, however, insert an unobtrusive link to our own site at the bottom of each page
To see examples of websites we have designed, click on the two "sample" buttons at the left hand side of this page. Both are genuine working sites which we created and are maintaining. One is a simple site with only a few pages, the other still simple in design but very much larger. Incidentally, the second site, "Pay the Piper", is listed in most Internet directories and also recommended by at least two government-sponsored educational advice sites.
